Cherry Blossom Time The National Cherry Blossom Festival opens Sunday!   The Cherry Blossoms around the Tidal Basin are expected to be at their peak of bloom, weather permitting, 25 March. To avoid traffic jams, take Metro to the Smithsonian stop, walk west two blocks on Independence Avenue, then south on Raoul Wallenberg Place (15th Street) to the Tidal Basin.
